The CMS market continues its shift toward cloud-based infrastructure. As of June 2026, over 58% of all new CMS implementations are cloud-based, driven by the need for better scalability and lower maintenance costs. Large enterprises, in particular, are moving away from on-premises hardware to ensure their multi-channel strategies can handle global traffic spikes without manual server intervention.
Today, a massive 64% of all websites use a CMS, and WordPress still dominates the entire internet with a 43.3% market share. The rest of the web is mostly split between easy-to-use SaaS platforms like Shopify (4.6%), Wix (3.7%), and Squarespace (2.2%), while older open-source giants like Joomla and Drupal have dropped to just 1.3% and 0.7% as developers move on to more modern options.
